ZANTE’S RESORTS

Zakynthos Town

We picked the best resorts you shouldn't miss!

Zakynthos Town is the capital of the island of Zakynthos and its main port. It’s a quiet town with a Mediterranean atmosphere. If you’re looking for a more tranquil atmosphere than the bustling streets and loud discos, you should definitely visit the capital. You’ll find plenty of restaurants located on the seafront or tucked away in charming narrow streets. It’s an ideal place for evening strolls, especially towards St. Mark’s Square, the largest square on the island, Dionysios Solomos, or the beautifully illuminated port. It’s from here that ferries to the Peloponnese and Kefalonia arrive and depart during the day, as well as cruise ships depart. Every summer, tourists from all over the world flock to Zakynthos, so the marina in the capital is bursting with activity. While strolling along the coast, you can admire yachts arriving from all over Europe. The Church of St. Dionysios is also worth a visit. It’s the most important temple on the island, housing the saint’s relics. Next to the temple is the distinctive bell tower, undoubtedly one of the symbols of Zakynthos Town. Bohali Hill dominates the town, now crowned only by the ruins of a Venetian fortress. However, from the hill itself, a breathtaking view of the entire capital unfolds. It’s especially beautiful after sunset, when the illuminated Zakynthos Town begins to bustle with evening life.
